A quick conversation that morning with Scout:
Me: Scout, I have to go to work, I’ll see you later ok?
Scout: Where are you working?
Me: At a tradeshow.
Scout: Can I come work with Mommy, too?
And there you have it – Scout came with us to ‘work’ at The Natural Product Expo. I don’t often discuss too much of what I do professionally (it’s a lot really – some days more than others), but one title is the Marketing Director for an herbal supplements brand called Eastern Botanicals. I’ll discuss more, later. The founder and owner of the brand is also my best friend, Michelle Dao. She recently launched her blog ‘The Dao Way‘ and as part of the marketing initiative for both brands, we decided this year instead of just walking the show (prior year, we were exhibiting!) we wanted to vlog at the show! The first day went very well. We captured a number of different things and were really just playing around with multiple techniques. Not to mention, I’m not a professional videographer. However, I am exploring my new camera and trying to get the hang of it all! We both had so much fun and decided to come back for round two.
Watch Part 1 of 2 here.
So, what happens when a toddler co-hosts the Natural Products Expo?
The following day, Scout asked to come along. I suddenly woke with a major headache – the room was literally spinning but nonetheless, I attempted to do it again. We packed our things and approached Expo West for day 2. Expo West is great, they offer babysitting service and a badge service for kids that wants to be at the show with their parents (or for parents who needed to take their kids). $25 dollars later, Scout had her first official ‘work’ badge for the show. However, while we were waiting she took my camera and someone the memory magically stopped working. That on top of my spinning headache – we decided to take a break and revisit the next day. We hadn’t even gotten to the front door and were already on our way out, lol.
On our second trial, Part 2 of 2 was a success. No headache, an active memory card and Scout had her badge from the prior day. We were set:
This video just makes me laugh. Scout’s facial expression while Michelle discussed 100%Pure, then her attempt to not take all of the polishes at Piggy Paint, and at the end of the video where she stuffs her face with Boom Chika Pop 🙂
We had so much fun. I cannot wait to shoot and edit my next video. Until next time!
